💗 To every woman who has walked through breast cancer… this is for you.

Silhouette of a person and horse at sunset in a field. The mood is serene. Pink ribbon and "The Mindful Yard" logo are visible.

There is a strength in you that the world sees; the courage and resilience, the way you kept going through appointments, treatments, uncertainty and fear.

But there is also another side, one that often goes unseen.  A softness, tenderness, a quiet exhaustion that can be hard to put into words.

Because the truth is… for many women, the hardest part doesn’t happen during treatment.  It comes after

When the appointments stop and the routine of care falls away and the world quietly returns to normal - but your world doesn’t quite feel the same.

You may find yourself holding everything you’ve been through, wondering where that leaves you now.

Life After Treatment

Surviving breast cancer changes you in ways that aren’t always visible from the outside.

Many women describe feeling:

  1. Disconnected from their body

  2. Emotionally overwhelmed

  3. Unsure of who they are now

  4. Deeply tired, in a way that’s hard to explain

  5. Lonely, even when surrounded by people

  6. Caught in quiet thoughts of “what if”

And yet, so often there’s an unspoken expectation to feel grateful, to move forward, to be “strong”.

But what if you didn’t have to be strong all the time?

What if there was a space where you could simply be

Why Horses?

At The Mindful Yard, we see every day how powerful calm, non-judgemental connection can be especially in the presence of horses.

Horses respond not to words, but to energy, emotion, and presence.

They don’t expect you to explain, they don’t require you to perform and they don’t need you to be anything other than who you are, in that moment.

In their quiet, steady way, they can help to:

  • Gently calm the nervous system

  • Bring you back into the present moment

  • Create a sense of safety and grounding

  • Offer connection without pressure

Sometimes, just standing beside a horse, breathing in a calm and natural space, can be enough to help something soften.

Introducing The Survivor Sanctuary

With all of this in mind, something new is being created at The Mindful Yard CIC.

The Survivor Sanctuary

A monthly, in-person gathering for breast cancer survivors.

This will be a gentle, welcoming space designed with care, where you can step away from expectation and reconnect in your own way, at your own pace.

What to expect:

  • Gentle, non-ridden time with horses

  • A calm, grounding natural environment

  • Optional sharing and connection with others who understand

  • Tea, warmth, and a sense of community

  • A space where you don’t have to be “okay”

There is no pressure to talk, no expectation to share and no need to explain your experience unless you want to.

This is simply a soft place to land - a space created with you in mind.

Whether you feel ready to connect, or you’re just curious about what this could offer, please know this:

You are not alone in how you feel and you deserve a space where you can breathe, feel supported, and be held in a quiet, understanding way.

If you are a breast cancer survivor or you’re supporting someone who is, this space has been created with so much care, compassion, and intention.
