Letting Go and the Back-to-School Feeling

As the leaves begin to fall and the air shifts towards Autumn, nature reminds us of the beauty in release. Letting go is not about giving up, it's about making space. Horses, in their instinctual wisdom, don't cling to the past. They live in the present, responding moment by moment to their surroundings. They show us how to soften, to trust, and to let go of what weighs us down.

For many families, September also carries that familiar “back-to-school” feeling. After the freedom of summer, there’s often a mix of excitement and unease. Children may feel anxious about returning to school routines, friendships, or expectations. Even for those who don’t attend school, this time of year can still stir up a similar shift - a sense that the carefree days of summer are closing, and something more structured is beginning.

In our equine-assisted learning sessions this month, we gently explore what it means to let go - whether that’s releasing school-related stress, anxious thoughts, or the pressure to get everything “right.”  The quiet presence of the herd offers grounding and reassurance, helping young people (and adults too) find calm amidst change.

Sound baths, too, offer an invitation to release. As the vibrations ripple through your body, they help shift stored tension, allowing your nervous system to unwind. Combined with the energy of early autumn, these practices become powerful tools for emotional and energetic cleansing.

This September, we invite you to pause and reflect: What am I ready to release as I step into this new season? And what might open up if I do?
